COUPLES & FAMILIES
Couples and family therapy helps people in a close relationship help each other. We do not live in splendid isolation so we explore how we are part of a bigger family system. Within any family, there are multiple relationships. We offer couple and family therapy so all parties affected have a voice. It enables family members, couples and others who care about each other to express and explore difficult thoughts and emotions safely, to understand each other’s experiences and views, appreciate each other’s needs, build on strengths and make useful changes in their relationships and their lives. Research shows Family Therapy is useful for young people and adults experiencing a range of difficulties and experiences.

ADDICTION
We believe addiction is a family illness where members are affected by their loved one’s actions. We can work with addicts and/or affected others either one to one or in a family conference to enable a way forward without blame or negativity. Some of the things we explore are our feelings, drugs and their methods of use, stigma, guilt, shame, blame, the cycle of change and relapse, enabling/rescuing behaviour and codependency. We also offer interventions and appropriate assessment, signposting and treatment admissions. We provide follow up sessions to build confidence and help with any social skills that may have been affected during a period of illness.

Young People
It can be frustrating to know someone needs help yet them refusing it. People come here for a variety of reasons –issues around their sexuality, feeling hopeless and isolated, anxieties about studies/school, friendship fall outs, family breakdown, problems with substances, addiction to Facebook etc, eating disorders, low confidence or esteem, bereavement.
It can seem daunting, like there’s something wrong with you if you have to attend therapy. All the young people we have worked with have felt the benefits of having someone they trust work with them. Young people even recommend the service to friends because they have got something from it even if that something is 50 mins a week to sound off free from pressure or consequence!
Although it’s a good idea to have at least more than one session, you don’t have to attend if you don’t want to – we have a contract when you first come where things are explained.

INTENSIVES
Find it hard to commit to weekly 1 hour sessions yet have the desire for things to be different? Intensives give you the chance to really get to grips with problems and have a clearer focus as to how you are going to make changes. These are popular as intensive work gives the opportunity to explore issues without limits on time allocated for sessions, the number of sessions in a given period, nor the need to “catch up” so much work between sessions. Our tailor-made solution focused sessions run from 2 – 8 hours based around a particular issue.

QUEEN OF HEART DANCING
Can you remember a time when you just knew something was true in your body? You knew it like you knew the sun would rise tomorrow. Could you feel it in your bones? Once you feel that connection to yourself through your body, the invitation is to set that feeling as North on your compass. You practice this feeling, this sensation of authenticity and resonance, so that you can deeply trust yourself, and the feeling of truth in your body, as you navigate the journey that is your life. The actual class is done while having an amazing time dancing, sweating, stretching, yoga-ing and connecting. Every class is different and done to a soundtrack that takes you from the joy of Bollywood to ragas from India to the magic of Mali. From the beats of the Lower East Side, up to the heights of Heaven and back down to the dance floor of Soul Train.
